On behalf of Hong Kong, the crossroad of the future’s great promise, a true world city, let me express humility, and deepest gratitude, for the privilege of speaking to our global village.
I am a person without great wealth, without agency, or master of any nation, so my voice comes to you as an unlikely messenger of our future together; but the fierce urgency of our time compels me to express the transformation we are amidst.

Descending from European aristocrats and African slaves, a collision of class and cultures, my lineage is a common occurrence within our collective. Born into a country based on diversity and cultural plurality; I have been seasoned with the ideals of a world that cherishes our differences and synthesizes our dreams into a common vision for the future.

This story unfolds throughout our movement in different narratives and extractions, but maintains a common core that transcends any individual.

Coupled with this dynamic, is a seemingly synchronized shift of a global transformation; expedited by the computer, mobile communications, and the Internet. Our world is being flattened by technologies, flattened by the internet, flattened by migration and affordable travel, flattened by a consciousness that we are all connected by common goals and ideals.

We are not divided by race, color, religion, or national boundaries. We are a product of the hip-hop and punk generation a “do it yourself’ culture that has compounded into a shared understanding bound by more than identity and affiliation.

At the cusp of this paradigm shift is a wave of democratization of ideas and access, being expressed from groups of people who have been empowered like never before.

Today, within the nexus of Cipher— we gather to affirm our intentions for the future of our movement — a definition of our goals and ideals thrust into the expanse of the universe.

Our proclamation for culture and creativity of a new breed

As entrepreneurs, artists, designers, musicians, painters, photographers, and computer scientists. Our work is synthesis, and product of the new world: A dynamic symphony, filled with change and optimism, and the excitement of making cultural products that transcend traditional boundaries.

We create for those who appreciate with an open mind and a progressive eye to the future. Without classifying, segmenting, or ghettoizing the consciousness of our supporters; we engage in a dialogue that speaks to the core of our values: The Future, Consciousness, and Change— the holy trinity that invigorates our essence and animates our collective unconscious.

Have you lost faith in corporations that have gone astray, who’ve lost their soul? Who offer un-inspiring and useless products that provide artifice and gimmickry as innovation? Who degrade products made in developing nations and exalting their own, at the same time making their products in those same developing countries—switching the labels on their home soil and passing it off as superior?

Realize that no one place has a monopoly on great ideas, creativity, or tradition. Every culture and place on the globe has, can, and will make a meaningful contribution to our new world.

Deny cultural imperialism, it has no place in the new world; where old, out-dated traditions and family oligarchies dictate their old views to subvert the coming new world and the cultural insights that propels our way of life.

Reject the misinformation and the squall of confusion that classifies our taste, our views, and subjects our choices to an archaic caste system. We are more then a label, more then the reflection of a glossy ad.

We are in control of our own value system.

Reject the corpratocracy and their propaganda machines that impel you to idolize athletic titans, and seek to infiltrate your mind with sex, slogans, and buzzwords— who pride profits over people and communities.

McProducts, McIdols, McSlogans: Mc-do this, Mc-do that; the constant violation of our public and conscious space; reduces our culture to the grinding cogs in the social device that propagates archaic ideologies.

Whether you are black, white, yellow, or brown– male, or female—Gay, or straight, Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, or atheist—young or old. We are here to inspire through meaningful lifestyle design.

We are a network of progressive individuals from Hong Kong to New York, London to Tokyo, Paris to Shanghai, criss-crossing the globe and landing in the superfuture hubs of the new world; where our transient presence is reflection of our ability to feel at home as citizens of the world and not relegated to any one flag.

We are the agitators of the groundswell, early adopters of the new technologies that allow us to share our views, make new friends, and have a community in any part of the world.
