A German composer “one of the great visionaries of 20th-century music”

CIPHER made our way over to Paris, to show at RENDEZ-VOUS last week. We were given an unusual store-front space on Rue Saint Merri, which we discovered was owned by Pierre Cardin and had his name appearing everywhere. The four days went by in a blur as a great mix of buyers, friends and random strangers walked into the showroom thinking it was a shop and wanting to buy the sneakers. Here are the some of the highlights from the show thanks to the White Space team !

New York’s Rogan serve up an interesting and ironic accessory with their Timeless Watch. Fashioned after a classically styled watch, the ironic element is the fact that the accessory is without an actual time telling mechanism and serves only as an ornamental piece.

In a new development, ALPA gave Swiss design studio Estragon a crack at creating its own rendition of the 12 TC, producing this beautiful version seen above. The ideal traveling camera – there is nothing comparable. Some see the ALPA 12 TC as the digital successor of the defunct Hasselblad SWC, but in any case, it is the smallest and lightest 6×9 roll-film camera for professionals. At the same time it is also the smallest and lightest digital camera with more than 60 MP. The 12 TC is fully integrated into the ALPA platform and all lenses, from the extreme 23-mm wide-angle to 250‑mm focal length can be used. Accessories can be attached on all four sides of the frame: for example a viewfinder, a small finger grip, a massive hand grip, a flashlight, a spirit level, a small exposure meter or whatever else is required. The entire ALPA range of accessories is available together with many accessories from other manufacturers.

As you may know, we are launching a new initiative with 10 influential Hong Kong artists who have produced some music for a CIPHER mixtape. The focus for this project is to express Hong Kong culture in a global context; the contrast, the inspiration and the diversity that exists in this dynamic city.
Over the past three weeks, We have been working very closely with Laurent Segretier who has captured some dynamic snaps from different inspirations and locations within Hong Kong. I have been documenting these images to help give you an idea of the strong partnership between the musicians, the photographer and the brand.
In this series of “Behind the scenes” photography, CIPHER will give you the chance to explore Hong Kong, as we use the streets as our new studio. Check out the photos and watch the progress as this new CIPHER production begins to unfold.

Ok, for all of you who don’t know we are in the Year of the Tiger. Here you can see the artist Yao lying in the middle of a cross section, Kowloon side, Prince Edward. This multifaceted producer is seen here with our photographer trying to capture the symmetries of what is a busy street on a hot day, while sipping on some chinese tea. Nice art direction evolves into an even nicer final shot. But you will have to wait and see the final production (May 26th)
……..On the other hand we had DJ Miss Yellow was next on the list. We took advantage of her beauty and elegance to play with some effects and emotion with some under water sequence.
Now, was this photo shoot was set in the SOHO region at a local surf and turf bar, or did me, Laurent and Miss Yellow head down to the aquarium to swim with the fishies ?? you decide.

Ok, are you ready for the final shot yet ? (www.ciphermixtape.com)

DIRTY BONEYARD consists of two creatives; one producer, one photographer who throw together some ill beats and play with us down on the docks of Kennedy town. Too cool for a close up, we will have to keep you guessing who these local celebrities are….Hold that thought
www.ciphermixtape.com coming very very soon !

There has been much anticipation in Hong Kong for the release of our MIXTAPE featuring 10 artists living in Hong Kong…..
Renowned photographer Laurent Segretier has contributed a visual storyboard to ‘Big City, Bright Lights’, using the Hong Kong landscape as his studio.
The focus for this project is to express Hong Kong culture in a global context; the contrast, the inspiration, and the diversity that exists in this dynamic city–is intrinsic to this project. The conceptual ideas have allowed this story to unfold into an exciting and spontaneous representation of 10 artists and their lives.
The result: a raw and visually stimulating display of different moods and perspectives in unexpected Hong Kong locations.
All music and photography will be shared with the public through the CIPHER MIXTAPE website www.ciphermixtape.com launching on May 26th. Visitors to the website will be able to download all 10 mixtapes as they read the inspirations and view the photography.
Check out the photos on our facebook page from BEHIND THE SCENES and be sure to visit the site on the official launch date 26th May, 2010 ! Come support and enjoy this CIPHER production.
